In order to pray for Jerusalem’s peace you have to acknowledge the importance of this little biblical city. It was tiny in comparison to other ancient cities like Nineveh, Babylon, Athens, or Rome, God used Jerusalem to display His majesty. Jerusalem was the physical location where God’s presence dwelled in the Temple! It’s the reason David said, “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the LORD’” (Psalm 122:1). David is excited to ascend up to the Temple and worship the Lord in all of His glory. From Jerusalem came the light of God into a dark and fallen world.
